Dr. Craig F. Beyer is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained specialist in corneal and refractive surgery. A true pioneer in the field of laser vision correction, Dr. Beyer has been transforming lives through LASIK longer than any other eye surgeon in the state of Colorado. With over 25,000 successful refractive procedures to his name, his expertise has earned him the trust of patients, including internationally recognized figures like Kevin Costner and Tyler Hamilton.
Dr. Beyer’s dedication to advancing vision correction began early in his career. He was among the first surgeons in the U.S. to perform laser vision correction and played a key role in training other surgeons nationally and internationally, even before the procedure received FDA approval. As a member of the groundbreaking team that performed the first Excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) in the world in 1988, Dr. Beyer has been at the forefront of innovation in refractive surgery. He also co-authored one of the earliest scientific papers on experimental LASIK surgery, helping pave the way for its widespread success.
Dr. Beyer’s educational foundation reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri and completed his medical education at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. He went on to complete his ophthalmology training at the St. Louis University School of Medicine and pursued advanced fellowship training at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans, where he was awarded the prestigious National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health.
When he’s not helping patients achieve their best vision, Dr. Beyer enjoys an active lifestyle in Boulder, Colorado, where he resides with his wife and two children. An accomplished classical pianist, he also embraces the great outdoors, spending time hiking, camping, swimming, biking, skate skiing, running, and skijoring with his Husky, Blizzard.
As a leader in LASIK and refractive surgery, Dr. Craig F. Beyer’s experience, innovation, and patient-centered care continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of those seeking clear, glasses-free vision.
