TLC changed my life! I've been wearing glasses and contacts for almost 20 years and always dreamt of a day when I would wake up with clear eyesight and without the hassle of corrective eyewear. I struggled with the hassle of wearing glasses for years. My night vision was so bad that I avoided driving at night. Every morning I open my eyes and am so excited that I can see, without contacts and glasses. My TLC Experience...

Was truly amazing! From the minute I walked in I felt right at home. The staff at TLC was nice and friendly; they explained all my questions in terms that I could understand. (Trust me I had a lot of questions!) Every time I had an appointment they made me feel like I was the only patient they had. The staff explained the whole procedure of what to expect before and after the surgery so I had no unpleasant surprises. Before my surgery I had 20/1600 vision; (I couldn't even see the big "E" on the eye chart) and in just ONE day I had 20/15 vision, and one month later I now have 20/10 vision! I never dreamed of being able to see this well. I did my research on all the eye surgery companies and TLC just stood way above everyone else. I came here because having a relationship with my doctors is essential with any surgery. I didn't want to feel like I was in an assembly line like other doctors make people feel sometimes. Oh and one more thing if your vision changes and you need surgery again they will pay for it completely! What other company will do this? TLC is the best! I strongly recommend you to just schedule a consultation and you will see what I'm talking about!

This has been the best thing I have ever done in my Life. I have been wearing glasses for almost thirty years, so they have become part of my life. I had considered having Laser Eye surgery several years ago, but did not follow through for several reasons. First, I am a Paramedic with Iredell County EMS, and the need for good vision is a must. Second, I am a Level I EMS instructor and having good vision is imperative to the task of teaching the next generation of EMS professionals. And finally the rest of my spare time is spent golfing, hunting, golfing, sport shooting, and did I mention golfing. So the thought of having a risky eye surgery and something going wrong, that would have changed or ruined my life, was out of the question. The dependence on my glasses was so great that I would routinely keep two to three pairs with me at all times. My vision was 20/150, so if my glasses broke or if I lost a contact lens, simple things like driving became impossible. To lose vision in the middle of a call where some one's life was depending on quality EMS care would have been detrimental for everyone.

So, after talking with several friends, and my girlfriend making the appointment with Dr. Self at Iredell Eye Center, the decision was made to follow up with TLC of Charlotte for possible Laser Eye surgery. The facility was easy to find and the wait was not long at all. The staff at TLC made me feel comfortable, as if I had known them forever. They performed some neat pain-free tests, and answered all the questions that I had. After the tests and the data were collected the Executive Director of TLC, Dr. Rauch, sat down and discussed the different types of surgeries and the risks associated with each. At first I thought this was some type of "sales pitch", but after the discussion I realized that the extra time she spent with me was not to benefit her, or even TLC, but was for me. Taking this extra time to educate me, so I could make an informed decision on what type of procedure I would prefer, was some of the best customer service that I've ever seen. They made an appointment with Dr. Jaben for the surgery, and then made my follow-up appointments with my regular Ophthalmologist Dr. Self. They explained everything and gave me all the information that was needed before and after the procedure.

The day of the procedure there was not any doubt if this was the right thing to do. I was not nervous at all. The staff once again made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The day started in pre-op with a lot of eye drops. Then Dr. Jaben took the time to discuss each step of the procedure and answer any questions. The procedure only took a matter of minutes and was painless. To describe what it feels like to sit up immediately after the surgery and see my girlfriend at the door without my glasses, believe it or not, I cannot put into words. Now as my co-workers ask about my eyes it has been a battery of praise from my experience. I see so much better now (20/15) than I ever did with glasses and I don't have the fear of losing or breaking the glasses and not being able to see. There is not enough time to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Staff of TLC Charlotte for my sight.

After four consecutive months of eye infections resulting from contact lens wear, my options were running out. For years, doctors had told me I would be a good candidate for the Lasik procedure. I was all for it until a work associate had a poor experience.

In order to make a well-informed decision, I visited three clinics. Some Jaycee friends referred me to TLC. They were thrilled with their TLC experiences & presented quite an impressive sales pitch.

Now, when people ask me about Lasik, I try to point out the following factors that placed TLC far above their competitors:

1. TLC is by far the most ethical. They are up front with you in all matters, from your prognosis to prices.
    
2. The surgeons are THE BEST!! (Check out the bio's on the web)
    
3. Their success rate is phenomenal. TLC does the most comprehensive screening, and a Doctor makes the final recommendation. They are very conservative --if the doctor feels you may have complications, the surgery won't be recommended. During the surgery, if they don't get a good flap, they'll send you home to try again in three months.
    
4. Their price is a great deal. It is more than other places, but you get what you pay for. They recommend both eyes done at one time, and their price includes the surgery, and all follow up visits for a year. They also offer a lifetime agreement depending on an individual's vision. The patient must visit annually a TLC affiliated doctor. Therefore, with the lifetime agreement, if you need an enhancement for distance vision, it is included in your initial fee.
    
5. Another major consideration is that TLC is not just local, they are much further spread out across the south and Midwest. Therefore, in our transient city, say someone has the procedure done in Charlotte and then moves to Chicago (for example). TLC has locations in Illinois that could do follow-up examinations..
    
6. You're not a paycheck. That is, the staff genuinely care about you & are more concerned with quality than quantity.

Joe Souther had LASIK with us on 11/29/99 with Dr. Scott Jaben. He was so happy with his results and with TLC Charlotte that he gave his two daughters, Cheryl Souther and Cynthia McJunkin, the LASIK procedures as a surprise Christmas present in 2000. Both women were in for their procedures with Dr. Jaben on 12/29/00 (one right after the other) and are both were very happy when they left on the 29th. The next day at their one day post-op Cheryl was 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. Cynthia was 20/20 in both eyes.
